Equation of a line HTML5

Construction of a line joining two points. You can move this line around and display its equation.

The general equation of a straight line is given in the form y = mx+b where m stands for the gradient (slope).

Click once to set the position of the first point then drag the mouse to draw a line.
Click and drag the line you just created.

Learning goals

  • To illustrate the relationship between the equation of a straight line and its graph.
  • To show that the slope doesn’t change when the line is moved.
